There were a lot of animals that gave us really good views – including some deer and their fawns that crossed the walking path in a wooded area, maybe twenty feet from us.  Obviously, not what we went there looking to see, but pretty awesome, since they weren’t too skittish.  The African painted dogs were adorable and cuddled together and I wanted to give them scritchins… But that wasn’t going to happen, unfortunately.  The giraffe feeding station actually puts you up above them (or, at least, above the matriarch, who was the only one hanging out there, at the time) so the girls got to reach down to her with the lettuce leaves that they fed her.  Really expensive lettuce, too, but no shocker on that one; the whole point is to make money.  As for the zipline, thing, it had a bunch of rails that you zipped along with curves in them, but there were three levels of obstacle course type of paths that you could wander around freely (well, “freely” in terms of direction – we were tethered to the rails above us the whole time).  The girls had a blast with that, and while Arwyn was hesitant to do the highest of the ziplines, she watched me do it and was then determined to do it herself.  It qualified as one of those “scary but fun” things.  😉
I’m wearing a Firefly shirt which declares that it’s “Time for some thrilling heroics.”  It seemed suitable, considering the subject matter.  Similarly, Stacy’s wearing a (Detroit) zoo shirt, featuring Hairy Otter.  The girls have apparently decided that they need to bring back 80’s fashion, wearing the shirts from their Rainbow in the Dark cosplays from a couple years ago.  Arwyn, especially, absolutely loves it and thinks that they’re wonderfully stylish.  I say go for it; it’s ready for a comeback!  😀
