Fatherhood 724
Stacy takes her to most of her dance things, but she was down in Kentucky for work on Monday, so I got to play chauffer on the busiest day of their year. It was largely do a performance, drive straight to the next one, repeat, with a short break for lunch and a longer one before the dinner (during which I picked up Kia and brought her along). It was already past their bedtime by the time we got home and they (especially Arwyn) were wired-tired-giddy-emotional (which wasn’t helped by them missing Stacy in a big way). Arwyn and her whole team did phenomenal work in front of increasingly large crowds (the first five were schools, so lots of kids watching them), but the chance to spend the day with her friends was the big deal to her. And, yes, McDonald’s. Because it’s-a-kid-thing, I guess.
My Firefly-inspired shirt says “You are beginning to damage my calm.” That’s not about the kids, it was the idiotic and/or slow traffic that was seriously making me want to throttle people. Stacy’s keeping more to the Irish spirit with her green faerie shirt from The Mountain, and Arwyn is wearing the shirt that her mom got her while down in Kentucky, featuring the Buc-ee’s mascot (which is a beaver and, therefore, respected in Canada) and saying “Kentucky” five times over the rainbow tie-dye.
